"After 20 years of full-time pottery, I switched to painting. I work on three paintings at the same time. That way, I don't get attached to any one outcome. This process is playful. This frees my imagination and provides many opportunities for happy accidents that become my finished paintings."
"I enjoy layering - starting with gesso, then acrylic paint and adding photos and transfers. This mixed-media approach is a natural continuation of my background in three dimensional pottery. I never know where the work will lead me and this loss of control is exciting - each painting is a new direction. For me, surprise is the best inspiration."
"I have been lucky to be an artist for 20 years. I graduated from Emily Carr in 1991 and am still excited by where art leads me. This year I will start painting in a new home studio and I'm thrilled to see how it will influence my work."
